Mexican Restaurant Cheese Dip


1 lb white American cheese, cubed
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp butter
1 (4.5 oz) can chopped green chilies
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Add cubed white American cheese and milk, stirring constantly until cheese is melted and mixture is smooth.
Stir in chopped green chilies, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove from heat and serve immediately, or transfer to a slow cooker to keep warm.
