Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

6 cups stale bread, cubed
2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes and milk. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
