Combining the classic elements of a Philly cheesesteak with the comfort of a hearty meatloaf, this dish is sure to become a family favorite.
Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
1 onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
8 oz mushrooms, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
8 slices provolone cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large skillet, heat some oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed vegetables, beaten eggs, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan. Layer the provolone cheese slices evenly over the meat mixture.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the provolone cheese slices.
Press the remaining meat mixture evenly over the cheese layer, sealing the edges to encase the cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
Slice and serve warm, and enjoy the delicious flavors of this Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf!
